GOAL:  Support the function of the digestive, immune, lymphatic, nervous, endocrine, integumentary (skin) system to maximize liver health.

Liver

The liver plays a very crucial role to breaking down and building up of various chemical substances involved in the cellular process.  The liver is also essential to functions of everything that happens in the body.  A primary responsibility of liver is detoxifying the blood.  If the liver cells do not transform substances into a form that the body can excrete, they will remain active in the blood.  It is known to store iron and vitamins A, D, E, K.

LIVER<-->SKIN: If the liver is unhealthy or weak, the immune system cannot be strong enough to perform because the liver produces a lot of plasma protein, for example immunoglobins, which are needed for immune defense.  A compromised liver can cause itching skin and acne rosacea.

FOODS AND HERBS TO IMPLEMENT

  • Oatmeal

  • Anthocyanin containing foods (berries, grapes, plums, red cabbage, red onion)

  • Milk Thistle
